Hi Guys,

In the early hours of Saturday morning, my old friend and colleage Gunther Graef of Hi Fi & TV Services fame passed away. Those of you who'd known him would agree that he was a man of solid stock. Big heart, easy to laugh and a bad enemy to have (although that was not easily achieved).

Born in the then South West Africa, November of 1950, he completed school in SWA, then went on to Germany to a little ancient town called Schweinfurt, where he worked and studied under a Master Tradesman. He completed his studies in Electronics, particularly focused on television. Back in SA, he worked for Mr Albert Meyburgh of Hi Fi Installations, which is where I first met him. This was the beginning of a long association, where eventually after many years we resigned at Hi Fi Installations and formed our own repair company Hi Fi & TV Services. We plugged away for many years and split up as very good friends when I left to begin Valve Audio.

He was never of good health and developed diabetes and eventually kidney failure. After many years of suffering he went away as said.
He was a great guy and an even better friend. He will be remembered as such. The specialist audio visual trade has lost a SON who was one of a kind.
