Author Topic: Internet browsing and streaming on blu-ray player/ UD player?  (Read 634 times)

For those that usually don't bother with equipment made after 1979, is it possible to browse the internet comfortably and stream content on websites that are NOT netflix and youtube.

I know some bluray players can do youtube and even netflix. I want to stream from random radio and tv sites other than those two. are they're any devices that allow this? If there are, what are the forumites experiences with the browsing, (i.e. search entries, selections, menues, etc). everything remote based or could you link a smart phone to it to aid with the browsing.

Most smart TV's have some sort of internet browser that allows you to access internet sites. Many other devices can download Chrome app and you can browse the internet via this.

My SONY blu-ray will browse the internet with a built in app.  The Samsung TV works better, and an Apple TV even better still, plus the Apple TV sound comes from the HDMI output.  There was an add-on for the Apple TV which provides a browser
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid… but it can muffle the sound

most smart TVs will be able to browse general internet.  HOWEVER, hey require you to use an on screen keyboard, and the tv remote, so typing takes AGES!  if you go this route, get yourself a mini keyboard that is compatible with your tv, it works 100% better. some work using a USB adapter that plugs into the TV, and I have seen some that will connect directly to the tv (over WiFI???).   I have one of the types that has a USB receiver to plug into the tv.  works really nice
