Day of solstices

So, dear friends down south, Midsummer Eve up here, longest day of the year (was actually yesterday this year) and shortest down in SA, really far up here, in Kiruna for instance, the sun doesn?t go down for two months, on the other side of the Year it doesn?t rise for the same period.

Today we exercise our pagan rites, eat pickled herrings and fresh potatoes, chive and sour cream, we drink Swedish snaps (schnaps) strong cheese (v?sterbotten) egg, crispbread and after strawberries whipped cream and icecream, some kind of alcohol accompany the food entire day.
