Thursday evening I received a text from GECO saying that I should come over to listen to the new speakers that he is developing.

I was able to hear two models from the 100 series at Audio Exchange. The FR100 and the FR110 or FR120 (I forget which floor stander it was). That day I preferred the FR100. We were listening to CD’s and used one of the Ming Da amplifiers. Unfortunately I did not take note of which CD player or which one of the Ming Da amplifiers. By way of having better high frequency detail, for me, the FR100 outplayed a pair ELAC stand mounts that are in the same price range. I was able to enjoy the FR100 even after having just listened to a pair of high performance Zingali ZERO bookshelf speakers.

If you’re looking to buy a new pair of speakers in the R4000 range include the FR100 in the list of speakers to demo.

The new series, I understand being called the 200 series, however is another step up.

This is what I walked in to see Friday morning in GECO's listening space.

These speakers are still in the development phase so these are unfinished demo cabinets.

Listening impressions to follow.
Tidal HiFi > MOTU 828x > Speaker build pending.
                                   > Schiit Lyr > Sennheiser HD600 & HD800.

this is a very interesting range and aimed at a much higher level than the 100 series

cabinets are 22mm MDF
drivers are SB acoustic and Peerless tweeter

the range consists of a Centre speaker, bookshelf and two floorstander. the floorstanders are the FS220, a three way and the FS250 a four way
i aimed for a more musical and easy listening approach without sacrificing anything else.

Just to add a model, it was probably the Elac Debut B5. Although I haven't heard, if true, that's very well done, as Debut range is highly regarded

Those look awesome without the finish. What are the dimensions?
With regards to voicing i dont know much on that so this is a learning question.....if you voicing in your room how would that effect the speaker in different types of rooms or does voicing not take that into account.
Time to get back to when I enjoyed listening......no more upgrading, more of a headache than a pleasure

Dimensions are
H1100 x D370 x W220

i have a very neutral room with no need for treatment (by design) so i get a very good feel of final result. obviously room will play a huge role and if your room isn't optimized it will affect the sound and you wont be getting the best from any system

Thank you.
valuable information, good to know. Im sure that these huge manufacturers that spend millions have these completely treated rooms but in the end the quality of the sound depends on where the speakers are placed.
Definitely wouldnt mind listening to the F250 nice footprint as well.

I would love to listen to the Bentley Acoustics as well. It would be great to support our local manufacturers on their great innovations. A few weeks ago I had the prevelege of visiting Nico (Lifestyle Audio) in Potchefstroom and he played me one of his prototype TT's...and the entry level one BTW...unbelievably great sounding TT...well built as well. This is  true confirmation that we are in a strong position to match overseas brands...and even do better than them at a very good cost....

And in many ways higher build quality in line with price. Welcome to have a demo anytime.
