Kindle Paperwhite repairs (Cape Town)
« on: June 15, 2018, 03:11:49 AM »
Can anyone recommend a shop or technician in Cape Town (or surrounds) that can help with a Kindle Paperwhite charging-port issue? (Preferably for less than the price of a new Kindle.) It will probably need some really precise soldering.

The device was bought from Incredible Connection a few years ago. The one IC that I asked, did not seem interested.

In this post, https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,28230.0.html , chipwelder mentions 'a shop in CT', but that was in 2013.

My Kindle also has a fault.  If I press the right-hand page button, it skips forward 3 pages. I think it is a mechanical problem.  I am going to disassemble it and have a look
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid… but it can muffle the sound

Considering my 'strip and rebuild' success ratio, I am reluctant to deploy this technique on anything important to my partner.  I might try it after all the stages of grief have been processed.

I just found your comment about Turbo-Tech/Laptopfix in Claremont. Maybe I'll ask them next week.
