Atrnative to watching TV via DSTV subscription

I'm tired of watching same thing repeated over. And over as is the case on DSTV. Moreover their subscriptions are not reasonable. I mostly watch sport documentaries news and listen to music. I also love animated movies.
So I would like to know what are the basics that I should buy and subscribers that offer alternatives t DSTV.
