OB: my plankie H8-15two
« on: April 20, 2018, 06:45:07 PM »
So the idea to build speakers finally started.
Plan is simple 8inch with 2x15 each side, 540mm wide baffle. This can be solid wood, perspex or supawood

Idea came from
https://www.google.co.za/search?q=trio15+open+baffle&client=ms-android-samsung-ga-rev1&prmd=ivsn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjmyKzUoMnaAhWZHsAKHURjBwIQ_AUIESgB&biw=360&bih=612#imgrc=f814yNi_yZYXLM:

First step was the frame, options are endless, tubing, batterns 2x4, i did 5mm aluminium 5083 H111
Because we have lasers and we can cut it.

This is how the fame bolts together, two m8 bolts and nuts per side. Crossover can also be mounted on the base
Very easy to swap baffles

You can have the full range on top or in the middle .

Im starting with supawood, 18mm , also getting  20mm clear perspex baffle cut, with 3mm aluminum black face plates,  these will be waterjet cut.
Love this look

As you can see, driver options are endless,  just swap out the middle to fit any speaker.

I've got two keen on a frame.
If we can get three more, i can do a a good deal for 5 sets.
Also if its okay,  can add black powder coating also.
Cost can we shared.

Think this build is a great idea; versatility (modular design), quality of material/workmanship, cost etc.

Total height about 1300mm .  How far are the uprights apart and total width of base please?  What would be an estimate for the different baffle materials?
