It is with great honour that i welcome one of the kings.. A Dynaco ST70. 1966/1967 parts vintage. Built in Feb 1968...but not so sure...may have been factory built as its very neatly wired with green painted spots on the solder joints. Nickel plated chassis..still very good.

Has a PA521 power transformer, with A470 output transformers, cloth-covered leads. All original...no modifications.

Shes been through 1 GZ34 in her life. Came with a good GZ34, and another Sovtek 5ar4. Original  7199 RCA black plates...( Dynaco rebranded), original double getter 6CA7's ( Mullard Blackburn 1st week June1966. rebranded Dynaco....but one of them beauties are missing. ( pinging Charles for help with a fire bottle at some point)Also has matched set fat-bottle 6CA7's (EH) abt 10 hours on them. ....A PAS3 preamp, ...been through a fire..shame...new transformer, missing selector knob ( pinging for one please...  :cleansound:) replaced valves, and a FM1 tuner. In addition....original owner and assembly manuals, purchase receipts from HiFi Installations, price lists of other equip/ catalogue. She was purchased with a set of Lowthers....that cost R217 then....but they didnt surface. The ST70 cost R105 back then, PAS was R75 and the tuner was R35. In good condition with some light surface pitting/rust on the ST70 fascia.

What more could one ask for ?

Shes getting cleaned up, has the bias diode mod now, looking into the rectifier flashover protection mod, bias caps ready to be changed. All black cat caps tested ok for now. PCB barely blackened by the heat from the 7199's...so possibly not used very much. Was fitted with 6GH8As without the mod!!!..so thats a no no and will be removed or adaptors made...or just enjoy the 7199 if still good.

The original owners are in their late 80's and had this packed away for many years. Their kids were not keen on it...passed it onto a friend...and here she is awaiting to be awakened and brought back to former glory.

Any advice ?

Thanks
Matantz123.
