Help me to help Matthew
« on: April 15, 2018, 06:01:59 PM »
Hello guys.

A few weeks ago i met a young man named Matthew, that is in the same school and the same class as my son, grade 8e1. So 13 year old Matthews mom and dad dont earn much, dad works at a book distribution company and mom is a cashier at some sports bar. Anyway, this young man has a dream of oneday becoming a software developer, and for the short time he spent on my sons pc i could see some real interest in him wanting do just that. Now, my plan.

I really wanna get this youngster a pc. I feel if he has the tools to get him started, im sure he can and will be able to follow his dream. I dont have cash to go out and buy one, so  im hoping someone here could or has a pc that is no longer being used that they could donate or pass on to young Matthew. From my side i will be buying Matthew a arduino uno and other little bits to get him going, once i get a pc up and running. I know it aint much from my side but its all I can spare.

Im in Cape Town, Northern Suburbs. My no is 071 two zero 11 460.

Pls lemme know if you can assist.

I will ask the guys in the Computer Club what they have available.  There are often computers, not new enough to sell but still in 100% working order.  I will let you know

Thanx Chris, its much appreciated

. Matthew is a bright young boy. Unfortunately his parents arent by the means financially. He just needs a bit of a push, and a pc will be just that. As mentioned, I will get the arduino at work, with some extras like jumpers, resistors and caps or whatever else he might need to get his first project up and running.

Ok, I have a PC for you.  The box and monitor is with a friend in Meadowridge, I have a keyboard and a mouse.

What would be the easiest way of getting it to you?

Awesome. Thanx Chris.

I can collect in the evenings or if you want you could drop it at the shop and they can bring it to Belville for me?
