Today I learnt that my garden helper, James, a 25 year old Malawian born gentleman who came to SA for a better life, was killed when he was apparently thrown off a train.
I have to ask myself, why. Why does someone become such an animal to take someone else's life in this callus manner, why did all the other people on the train not stop this happening, why did they not report the incident to the police, why when it was finally reported by family did the police not investigate.
It make me realise what a barbaric and uncivilised society we really are.
James Banda, may you finally have found a place where you have the peace that you so naively sought here in SA. Rest in Peace.
