After my TV stopped working, I consulted my broker who informed me that the Santam household cover we have only covers electronics failure for R5000 if caused by a power surge, and replacement cost if caused by lightning.
Now the TV cost R10999k, and R4500 will not even cover the repair cost of R10500. This whole thing is leaving me quite frustrated and worried, in case my AVR or my Oppo fail, and they can't determine the cause of failure.
Is there a specialised insurance any of you use to insure your AV equipment? For example, I have specialised insurance for off-roading, where they will come recover you in the middle of the bush, or even on a mountain if you're stranded, which is not covered by 'normal' insurance.
