Had a great evening at theĀ Linder Auditorium last night. Feeling revived
Nothing like a symphony orchestra in full swing. A special evening with our new "First Lady" in the audience-very stylish and dignified with no visual entourage or security. Mingling with the crowds and chatting away during the break.
Awesome music as well. The Conductor, a Caribbean-Canadian was delightful to watch and the Indian born pianist, the daughter of a previous Indian Ambassador in SA played an uplifting version of Mozart's 20 Piano Concerto(one of my favourites). The 2nd movement especially is sublime and she did justice to it.Ā To top it all of, the evening ended with the master's ode to nature, Beethoven's 6 Symphony. Transported into a different realm, could not believe that 40 minutes past when the piece was finished.
However, next week Wednesday and Thursday evening there will be a performance of Saint-Saens symphony no 3, the organ(and piano) symphony. A real thumper that will entertain both music lovers and audiophiles alike. A majestic piece with bass to rattle even concrete wall. Not sure how good the organ in the Linder is, but that is secondary.
Save a bit of money by not buying that expensive cable and make a night out of it and support the JPOĀ
