What is your plan with the clear coat?

I want something matt/satin, not a high gloss lover. I still need to investigate, worst case I will fall back to Woodock 10 & Wax.. trying not to though!

I'm sure these are going to look fantastic!  :2thumbs:

Could you not do a rubber gasket? I'm thinking decoupling & more error proofing in one. Should be A LOT less horrible to work than MDF as well.
It's only hifi people....

I have suffered the MDF cloud, tackled it after weetbix & before a swim & work.. was once again amazed at how it vaporizes... I'd suggest avoid avoid avoid unless you wear 3 dust masks .. Birch ply is worth the cost, rigidity & lack of MDF cloud.

My driver depths are now just right. I have previously gone with a deeper than needed depth and compensated with  seal of sorts to buffer (mid). This time I'm coupling properly to the baffle. Tweeter will have some decoupling, I'll go rubber there using some garage door seal.

I'm hoping to have drivers in the boxes this time next week.

I spent about 5 hours today sanding...all by hand, my wife told me it was rude to the neighbors droning away with the electric sander all day  :whip: :whip:... but the result is great. ready for finish.. 150/180/220/280/400 grit, 4 sides, with some ding filling in-between.

Now the finish will be a face off between tung oil / wax or Danish oil / wax or Woodock 10.. hoping the Woodock loses. Discovered Hardware Centre, mmmm.. I could get lost there.

Ok I saw that one there.. i have usually used similar with woodock. I have bought this to try, with an untra fine steel wool. If that does not work I'll get beeswax.

Going to try do some tests tonight  :rubhands:.. move beyond the dusty phase.
