Thanks,

The CT Hi-Fi Club is wanting to organise one here in Cape Town.  The venue is no problem, but getting the dealers to agree is proving difficult.  They all have their own demands and conditions

Cape Town would be perfect for an annual consumer audio show, we should get it done!

Who is the organizing committee or body?

there used to be so many before - nowadays they are almost non-existent

there used to one, more-or-less held annually at what used to be the Royal Hotel in Durban

I miss those days of moving from one room to another to listen to different systems .... those were the days

Have you made contact with B&O ZA seems they are keen on the retail market having shops in V&A and MoA?? Who owns B&O by the way?

They might be able to generate some swell for a African Audio Expo...AudioEX?

We (the Hi-Fi Club guys) discussed it yesterday.  One of the committee has experience in event planning

Basically, its

Decide on dates
Find a suitable venue (easy place to find, adequate parking, not too expensive, available when needed)
Determine a budget for venue hire, advertising and any additional infrastructure required
Locate dealers willing to participate until you have commitment to cover costs and make a reasonable profit
Deal with promotion

We were thinking of spring this year.  Fewer tourists so hotels more amenable to a block booking
Sufficient lead time if dealers need to acquire equipment for the show
No overseas events scheduled that might clash

Awesome!

I have been trying to get a hold of Karl he is the marketing manager at the head office of B&O South Africa but I keep missing him. Anybody know him perhaps?
