I Dont Know if anyone else caught this on DSTV - Its still on catchup if you havent (not sure when it expires though)

its a documentary exploring the music of the rockets and looks at their history .... and i was amazed to learn that they were formed in the year i was born ..... but they definitely are South African Legends

The documentary also brought up many memories by mentioning artists who i knew and met during my early years as a DJ ie i saw the Rockets live as well as having the pleasure of DJ'ing at clubs where artists like Ricardo (who played with the Rockets for a while) and the Syndicate sisters who i met multiple times in the late 80's and early 90's

there were also mentions of many SA artists who i grew up listening to like PJ Powers and Brenda Fassie as well as Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse and my only complaint is that they dont play enough of the music in the documentary .... but its essential listening for fans of 80s disco and funk

my two favourite hits from them (amongst the many that they have produced) are also featured on Youtube and here are the links

Ooh La La La

Gimme A Break

and theres a few links of their other songs in the links to similar videos on those Youtube pages

Congrats on the 50 years guys  :dop: and heres to a few more
