I never tried to use it as a usb-dac, so I'm not able to comment.
Truely the user interface never bothered me.

i have read the same thing repeatedly regarding the usb dac. so decided to try it now.
plugged in the usb. the menu came up (charge / usb dac / mass storage)
i hit the usb dac option.
after around 2 seconds, there is music. no issue whatsoever. sounds pretty damn good!   :groovy: :groovy:
my ak is on v1.03, same as the one in the pics, & my pc is running windows 10.

How old is it? And is the battery still good?
Taking a lot of effort here to stop myself!

As stated I bought this product in Oct 2016.

I found the battery life is very dependant on the volume at which it is used.

So how long does it last on average?
Eg will it last me a plane ride to germany?

I don't think so. Fully charged and at 50% volume, no more than 6 - 8h. At higher volume even less. Using bluetooth also drains more power

You could probably easily keep it charged/topped up with a USB battery bank on the go?

i find that my one gets a bit of background noise if i listen while it is charging.
