It's been a while since I have played with different NOS valves in this setup and I had forgotten what an improvement in sound this exercise can be! First I tested the 14 valves in the Phono and they were still at over the new rated spec, 10 years after installation. The amp's 4 out of 6 rectifiers needed changing, so did 2 of the 4 input/driver valves. Been listening extensively since Fri. and I'm reminded of the first few years of moving to valves. Addictive musical engaging sound! I hadn't been able to sit through D. K.'s - Live in Paris for years (abbreviated as I know her name is a swear word to some) but today I even repeated some tracks! I know visiting people to test valves, then sourcing hard to find NOS is a schlep but the results are worth it! Plus you don't do it every year so
