If I was in the market for something like this I'd rather buy the dinkum Elear advertised on this forum for about the same money.

Just don't go there...major delays in delivery, not sure when stock will arrive in SA - Feb/March it would seem.
I'm not going to spend R8k plus on them without a listen first and a few reviews at least.

There's also the strong possibility of a mint pair of LCD-2F becoming available soon... ;)

To be quite honest though, I'm actually very satisfied with my headphone compliment right now.
More tubes, now that's where I'm heading.

Reading about the LCD classics, they are a similar design to the pre-fazor LCD2's not as sweet sounding as the 2's.
Personally I would rather get a set of LCD2's used for the the money.
The Fazor if it really bothers someone, can be removed. I personally prefer the fazors, but each of us has a sound signature we like

@ Mr CPTwatches, what toobes you after now? the new ones i got are superb. All the cans i have have seen a dramatic improvement from them. the problem with toobe rolling is it can cost more than the amp.

Well it seems sales are so slow,
they've had to drop the price by $100.

The REAL problem with tube "rolling" is that it is addictive, the ability to change the sound of your rig by swopping out a light bulb or two.
It does not HAVE to be very expensive, depending on the amp of course, a decision best made with future rolling firmly in mind.

My amps use common tubes that are relatively easy to find and cost-effective.

All I really need going forward is a matched pair of full-bodied NOS 6922/E88CC Mallards, and a nice raucous pair of NOS 70's Russian 6N23PEV (great with heavy rock and metal).
Already sourced, will make a plan in the early new year to pick these up.

probably more to do with Focal dropping the current Elear by 200$ so now for the same money  you can get a set of cans without waiting.

I think that Focal have shot themselves in the foot with this whole drop

you cannot bring a budget headphone and say it performs better than a current model and expect to keep selling your current model.
of course the dealers got upset.

I had mine just a few weeks before this and have lost huge money on them. not that i want to sell them, they are incredible cans.

this should possibly be a lesson for other manufacturers to be aware of. keep the products separate and do not compare them to current models.

massdrop certainly has a place in the market but they do need to protect the suppliers current ranges.

Makes these even more tempting...  :stop:

Sales on these and the HD58X do seem quite sluggish,  only around 800 pairs of the Senns sold at what really is a bargain price.
Too many great cans for sale in too short a space of time I reckon.
