My condolences to the family. I met Charles about 6 years ago at Builders Warehouse Rivonia when he bought cables from me.

Really terrible news! I haven't been on the forum much of late, so this was horrible to hear. If you are still reading this thread, Lauren, then I also have two stories to share of your wonderful father. The first was way back when my GP had suggested that I switch from brandy to whiskey for health reasons. I posted this online and asked forum members for suggestions on a nice whiskey that wouldn't kill my bank account. A few days later I got back to the office and found a package had been delivered to me by an anonymous person. Inside was a bottle of Jack Daniels (which has since become one of my favourite drinks) and a short letter wishing me health and happiness and that I shouldn't take my GP too seriously! I later found out that it was of course your father!
The second incident happened one year when my decoder went belly up, I discovered I had neglected to take insurance out for it...and your father took me to the store near his house and bought me a new one as an early Christmas present! He also made the effort, despite serious back pain at the time, to come to the launch of my little side business all the way in Jhb south. Like so many have said here in thi thread, a kinder, more generous man you will struggle to find.
God bless,
Andrew

So many guys gone .................

We need a special 'emoticon' of respect for these incidents.

I cannot recall whether I ever met him at one of Francois' events; think I might have.  My loss at not recalling.

As Schalk said, some of us now pretty close to go that same way naturally. Folks like these have already started their eternity here, in that they left a legacy which will go on long after they have left, even in deeds unconsciously stemming from their examples.

As someone said on another section, one's childhood seems to die bit by bit
       - as is also our circle of companionship.

One owes these people - may one be considered to be faithful to all these humble heritages left behind.
