Andre, Welcome.

Perhaps send a forum member or 2 a Kali to review?

Hi Gavinbriss,

well thats not a bad idea at all!
you reckon there are audiophiles here interested in our KALI re-clocker?
what about the USBridge?

I hope admin is OK with this.

Hi to all !
I guess I'll make this my intro post.

My name is Andre, I live in France and I work @ ALLO.
I decided to join the forum to congratulate Weitsche for the review and make myself available in case any of you had any questions about our hardware.

I will also contact admin to see how we can become a sponsor.

Regards
Andre

A very warm welcome Andre!

Was a pleasure to do the review! Thanks for getting involved here on our forum. To be honest, I was kind of expecting to see you around soon, as Allo's community engagement on other forums are fantastic and consistently so. Well done!

Hope you enjoy our lively South-African community!

Cheers,
W

Hi Wietsche,

Your very detailed and well-written report knocked a good hour off a long-haul flight between Shanghai and Dubai!  Thanks for the opportunity to audition these little wonders ... and thanks also for kindly omitting my misidentification of the hardware involved.

I must say if I knew about these or Odroid I would not have invested in a media server laptop.  These small, noiseless and powerful critters do the same and more for less money and desktop space.  If I knew I would have gone another way.

I reckon a thorough review by a forum member is just what is needed to spice up interest.

Not to appear selfish I would not mind to volunteer and apologies for steering original posters topic.

Wietsche's review will open the door to others that can follow here!
I am sure he will not mind.

OK fine! we can make that happen.
In the past i've even seen members of other forums pass the review unit around so that more than one got a try before they made up their minds.

KALI is the board that made a name for us when we started.
initially we offered it with 22/24 Khz oscillators, but now we only sell the 44/48 Khz version.
we only use ultra low noise NDK oscillators.
its a board that made and continue making many audiophiles happy.
some complete solution builders have even incorporated the KALI in their design.
to be used only with SLAVE DACs, but I am sure you guys know that  ;D

So i will discuss with PI-SHOP.co.za as they have the stock.

How do we know the difference or did SA only get the latter?

Thanks for a very comprehensive and useful review. I was so interested that I emailed the pishop.co.za about the Boss Kit and got an automated reply but no actual response to my enquiry  :(

we stopped 22/24 a long time ago.
no more stock exists anywhere.

all we ship for over 6 months is 44/48

Hi,

Mars64 agreed to borrow me his Piano and Kali combo in the new year for a comparison with the Boss and DigiOne. Looking forward to that and will report back.

I would love to have a look at the USBridge as well to have a complete view of the Allo DAC/source lineup.

So happy with the response over here after doing the review! Exciting stuff!

Cheers,
W
