I agree 100% on the enjoyment and fun factor. I have grown addicted to this sound and its actually not that expensive to play with. I really like the very sensitive speakers and they respond very well to the current class-D amps too. The amps are dirt cheap, even the 2.1 ones that I recently got. They do use quite a bit more power than the original ones that I use in a 2.0 config, but well worth cutting out the crossovers which makes life a million times easier to integrate.

To get back to the Linns. They are really special ‘normal’ speakers in my book, especially in a large room like mine. I believe there’s enough space in my life for both the Linns and these big OB stuff. That said, I am spending a lot more time these days in front of the OB stuff  :giggle:

Starting to match the concept drawing Wolla!
Haha, yes I would have loved to make it just like my original concept drawing - I think it will be very cool. It would just be a lot more dificult to make - maybe if I could do some pipe bending and tig-welding. Maybe I will make it exactly like that one day and the experience I’m picking up now may come in very handy then.

That original concept looks a bit like breast’s 🤫
Put a pair of vivid 1.5 with their reflex ports below them and who knows you might just have the best system ever

Ok, been busy with a whole new plan.

Since my original setup sounded a bit like a PA system and also did not have a great soundstage, I chucked the cheap tweeters and crossovers and made a complex extender for the Q-Acoustics full rangers, so the big cones will do bass duties only and I have changed the 2.0 amp for a 2.1 amp. The ear speakers are 8 Ohm and I can thus run the 2 in parallel into 4 Ohm.

Played with op-amps and can now run the normally 9V+ amp in 5V mode.

So here is what it looks like when extended for a decent soundstage:

and here it is in storage mode:

will hook the whole lot up in the morning and see if it works as good as I had hoped.

Thanks Craig. Wiring is still a mess and looks like I’m going to have to forget 5V with this one, just can’t find op-amps I like that can go that low on Volts. So have to make plan to afix the drill battery. Also make lid, for the top compartment, paint and make a slinky tank-top for the ladies - in black. Oh, and make a much better video.

Yes sure, some say boobs - just depends how the light falls and where your mind is going with it all I suppose.  :giggle:
They do the boom-boom pretty good, especially playing Patricia Barber - love her music.

Just recived some exotic wiring via Postnet from JeandeB of The Audio Visual Botique and will update as soon as I have redone the wiring.

Thanks Jeandre!

Thanks Julian, problem is that this box sounds so good, I’m TOTALLY addicted and can’t stop listening long enough to finish it properly.

Will have to force myself soon enough.

The video does not do the sound justice and I will have to see how I can make a better recording.

I know what u mean man..
See that ugly contraption I posted with the polystyrene stuff... now when it sounds that good and look like that we have a problem at least yours look good ...
Obviously I had to remove all of that .. the wag factor was gonna murder me at some point .
But I’ve been thinking how on earth do I implement something like that .. perhaps make it look like a JBL paragon or something .. but shoo I’m scared of costs ...

Julian, even my box has been banished from the living areas (where the good space is to really get the best from the OB).

I think I’m going to get it some wheels and just wheel it in there when the wife aint home.  :angrywife:

Best thing is to go and make lots of money and build your own man-cave
