Looks like they'll be offering MQA shortly as well ... So a very serious competitor to Tidal. Will be interesting to see their library size

I wonder why they don't list it here >>> https://www.deezer.com/en/offers ?

So then Deezer have those three plus the newer HiFi ?

Deezer Free
Deezer Premium+ (R59.99)
Deezer Family (R89.99)
Deezer HiFi (R119.99)

And Tidal offer :

Tidal Premium (R59.99) (Guessing?)
Tidal HiFi (R119.99)
Tidal Family (R?)

The Hi Fi tier is basically in beta. I suspect this is because they want a more manageable group of users to put the capabilities through its paces before the official announcement is made.

Without even upgrading, Premium+ users can make use of HiFi for 3 months at no extra cost. With most services offering only the first month free, it stands to reason that 3-months is the grace period they're giving themselves to integrate MQA, mobile functionality and bugfixes into the service.

I also suspect that Tidal's price drop was implemented to combat a loss of users to Deezer's soon to be identical service. It is now incredibly close between the two of them.

For those of us who do not have home internet or credit cards:

1. Can you somehow buy a voucher for this
2. Can you download content

You can use VCpay - basically a "virtual" credit card. They've been around for a while and is safer than a real credit card.

This page has the special offer - also an even lower month to month subsequent subs (think it might be single user as opposed to family):

https://www.deezer.com/en/offers

Get 3 months Premium+
for just R10.00*
For a limited time only
*Conditions apply
R10.00 for 3 months then R59.99/month, cancel anytime

1. Yes, https://support.deezer.com/hc/en-gb/articles/212779045-Deezer-Digital-Gift-Cards, but you still have to pay with a Visa or Mastercard.  Some debit cards are Visa or Mastercard enabled.
2. Yes using their mobile app.  I see they have plan to do the same for the desktop app.

Never mind - I don’t do any debit cards online or apps - safety first folks!

That’s why I do iTunes - I can buy a cash voucher at PnP or an iStore, download what I want and leave it at that

No point in option
Kudos.  You have a few other options too.  This was taken from MyBroadband.

1. EasyPay Wallet, via the VCPay app. This app is available for iOS, Android and Blackberry. You create an online wallet, EFT money into it, or top it up at a supermarket or kiosk, and use the VCPay app to create a virtual credit card from which you can access your funds. This works even when your phone is offline, and is the safest, because the CC numbers change everytime you use it. Thus, it's completely clone proof.

2. Prepaid credit cards. These can be bought from Dischem and other stores. You buy the card (they're cheap, about R5), and put money onto it. Then it can be used as a normal credit/debit card. You use it until the funds are spent, and then you throw it away I presume. These are also pretty safe, because it's not connected to your bank account, it can only be used until the funds are spent.

3. An embossed debit card. If you have a debit card, like I do, from your bank, and it's embossed, and has the MasterCard logo, it can be used as a credit card. However, your bank might phone you to confirm the purchase.

See no point in option 2 if you cannot use it for overseas online purchases

I see there is an R89 special if you join Deezer HiFi now. Not sure if the special is only for Sonos users.

Just a pity there is no Roon integration. If streaming options on Roon remains limited to Tidal I may revert back to LMS even though I have a lifetime subscription to Roon. In the ideal world we would have one HiFi streaming services combined with Spotify for the kids.
I am currently listening on deezer and they show R119.99/month at the moment.

I hope they make a HiFi family plan, or even if its just 1 user in the family plan that gets lossless quality I'd be happy

Interesting...from what I know there isn't a HiFi Family plan yet...but I downloaded the beta app and I too can select HiFi quality ... loving listening to some of my songs in lossless for the first time  :groovy:

So I wonder if it's a temporary "trial" type of thing, interesting if anyone else on the family plan has the same experience?

Hmm I don't know about that, so I'm only paying R89 a month for HiFi, premium only starts at R59, I'm thinking it's a trial or bug

Both Premium and Family say 'High Quality", which I presume means HiFi
