Marantz NA7004

Right so I, horrifiyingly, use my iPhone to play back music via the NA7004 via a usb cable - charges the phone at the same time. But has always been iffy in terms of connecting to the iPhone and now post matters refuses to connect to the iPhone at all. Not the cable - that's usually the issue. A firmware upgrade - yes, well, Marantz have their own ideas about that for us non Europeans (still seem happy to take our money tho). So am not impressed circa past hour or so trawling online to find an update. Anyone have any bright ideas/run into similar issues? Else I have a paper weight for sale - make me an offer I don't understand.
