Which TV?
« on: November 09, 2017, 11:55:42 AM »
I am looking to buy a first tv for my flat, to watch some movies and tv series, not for gaming.

The room in question is small: 3.5m x 3.5m and we will be sitting 3m from a wall-mounted screen.

I have found the following prices on a 55#. Which seems like the best value? Should I rather wait for Black Friday and risk losing out on these discontinued models but possibly (or not) getting something else?

(KS8500) SAMSUNG 55" SMART SUHD CURVED TV  R17,390

(55EG910T) LG 55" 3D SMART CURVED OLED TV R16,000

(55M7000) HISENSE 55" SMART ULED TV   R12,000

(55KU7000) SAMSUNG 55" SMART UHD LED TV R10,500

(55M5010UW) HISENSE 55" SMART UHD LED TV R9,000

(55N3000UW) HISENSE 55" SMART UHD LED TV R9,000

(55K3300UW) HISENSE 55" UHD LED TV R9,000

Also looking at this option, except for the curved TVs. Will follow with interest.

Thanks for the poll - so it looks like Samsung KU7000 in the lead. Interestingly, some folks at mybroadband are rooting for the Hisense M7000.

My gfriend suggested checking out gumtree and we found this seller https://www.gumtree.co.za/u-seller-listings/electroworld/v1u103267540p1

with the following ads:

Any thoughts?

Hisense..... not in the same league as Samsung, it is cheaper for a reason,
I always advice to not set the back-light control higher than 60%  which IMHO doesn't stress the LED's, henceforth increasing the reliability, take it off Vivid setting and spend a minute or two setting it up in your room
I would also recommend the Sony , but  i think only coming back next year

Samsung UHD or SUHD gets my vote. I have a 2012 HD TV, 200hz cmr and its still outstanding after all these years.
