Is it just me, or do valve amps tend to give you 'more of the music' at lower volume levels,
whereas solid state amps really deliver the goods when you turn it up a bit?

I mean, I know this sounds like a gross generalisation, and that other parameters like source, speakers etc. play a role as well, but it just seems I'm getting a more balanced (ito freq. response) sound from a low-powered valve amp as opposed to a powerhouse SS machine.

Or maybe it's an exaggerated bass response or something and I'm talking the biggest load of baloney?
