Acoustic Panel - Fabric Printing Ideas
« on: October 02, 2017, 06:47:04 PM »
Starting a build of some Acoustic Panels. I'm looking for ideas of what I should get printed and the fabric that will cover the panels.

I've posted some ideas below.

Going to be interesting to see how the print will come out, but for now trying to get some ideas of what people would like to see on their walls.

Any ideas most welcome  :2thumbs:

Will you be selling these panels?

One issue to note is that a lot of the fabrics that are suitable for printing are not suitable for acoustic panels -- they may be reflective at higher frequencies, distorting the response.

Yeah I am concerned about this. But I guess proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Anybody got experience with this?

For now not selling, but let's see how it goes.

The first panels I made I found some nice, light'n'stretchy fabric in a happy stripey panel, like so https://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,22244.msg285905/topicseen.html#msg285905

Later replaced the stripey fabric with white light stretch fabric and hand painted (well, stencilled on) some Banksy ripoff artwork I liked (don't have a handy picture).

Perhaps a plan is getting your designs screen-printed onto light fabric? May be similar price to large format printing.

You can digitally print on white burlap or better still a material called contravision

I did all mine with contravision
Roon/tidal > Squeezebox touch> 2x Devialet D premiers>  Vivid audio Giya G1 spirits ..fully treated room

I think the designs/pictures will all be according to personal preference. E.G. I like your last image.

Other popular images are any of John Lennon or Bob Marley etc

I Lurve your idea, I want to build accoustic panels and put Photos of the family and kids, that way the wife wont complain too much. I am however concerned about the material as it needs to be "Breathable" but cant seem to find someone who can print what I need on the material that would do the best job.

Would contravision not be too reflective?
