Droidbox Anyone?
« on: September 12, 2017, 02:54:17 PM »
Stumbled on them via Faecesbook- https://www.droidboxsa.co.za/
Anyone had any experience- and any other recommendations?
All legal they say.....

I am battling a bit with my Lenovo M73 (wi-fi, i3 and 8Meg line) and Kodi. It's slow, I'm slow.
Tutorials are a pain.
On the plus side I watch a lot less tv since I got rid of DSTV.

HI,

reviving this topic.

I am looking for a good android TV box and this looks OK.

Any feedback.

I know KODI is pirate.  I want a good box to load my netflix, Showmax and Amazon subcriptions.

Thanks,

Andre

Kodi isn't pirate, it's perfectly legitimate.  Some plugins can enable access to unlicensed content.

+1 Kodi is not pirate.

If you want a good Android TV box get a Nvidia Shield.  They are great.

That's like saying get a Ferrari, they are great!

Yes a NVIDIA shield tv is great but they are also the most expensive android tv you can buy.
There are hundreds of other options out there and some of them are quite good, especially for the money.

I have a MINIX U9H. Octacore, 4k, HDR, Dual band WiFi and x265 playback (main reason for upgrade from WDTV). Not the cheapest out there but should be good for a few years. Distributed by Uniterm so support should be OK.

Check out Geewiz for their selection of media players.

strongly strongly recommend Shield TV R5000 at Gee whiz or R3000 (landed with duty) from Amazon

Best box without a doubt

I use a gen 1 Chromecast. A good phone works amazingly as a source for Kodi, Put.io, Netflix, etc with the added bonus of being more powerful than your average media player.

For media files, you can stream your PC desktop running VLC (for example) via Google Chrome to the Chromecast.
