Hi there,

I was hoping someone could help me with this.

My equipment rack allows for components with a height of up to 18cms. I recently bought a valve amp with a height of about 17cm and I've been reluctant to place it on a shelf 'cos I'm concerned about the heat build up. Even though there'd be space all around the amp (front, back and sides), it would only be 1cm from the shelf above. My spider instincts tell me that heat travels upwards, mostly, so this installation would be less than ideal, and possibly even dangerous.

Am I being paranoid, or should I keep the amp where it is until I can sort a new equipment rack solution - btw it's sitting on a tiled floor at the moment - not very glamorous.

Thanks,

G

P.S. Btw it's a Xindak MT-1 08, 12.5wpc, EL84 based.
