Concerned about what a MALE socket would be though... :ROFLMAO:

It is all about the pins ...

If you want to go the route of a new male plug, then get one made by TE Connectivity with a built in power conditioner filter. Mouser, RS Online, Farnell all stock these and a cheaper junker option at ACDC . Just ensure the new plug can handle the amps. The fig-8 plugs normally can only do 2,5A.
