I have a Benz Micro ACE S medium output MC cartridge that has mysteriously gone bust on me. Bought it in great working condition, packed it back into original packaging after a listening test with the seller. Kept it like that for a few weeks, then fitted to my new TT for a test. Sounded awful. Back to seller, where a listening test agin confirmed that it is busted. Cartridge was cleaned and inspected under a microscope, everything looks fine, including the stylus tip. Looks great, sounds crap.
I'd hate to waste it, paid R 5500 for it, so trying to see if it can be rescued in any way. Anybody have any ideas? Think sending it back to Benz or Soundsmith should be last options, due to cost.
