Turntable repairs and servicing-Durban
« on: March 09, 2017, 07:57:09 AM »
Seems all the vinyl gurus are either in CPT or JHB   :vsad:

Where do Durbanites get their decks checked?

Its a direct drive unit so needs more than the basic overhaul.

I am glad to see there is scope for retiring in the midlands and puttering with a few groove grinders until I reach my lead out groove.

No offence meant, but will anything want to play any Bles Bridges music?

Definitely, just want to check locally if there is a chance before disassembling and couriering.

Its a lovely rosewood finish Denon unit, can't recall the exact model. It works just, temperamental at times with speed selection and pitch adjustment.
I think due to its long time in storage its just needs a proper overhaul.

quick question though - why would you adjust pitch for normal listening? .... pitch bend and adjustment is mainly for DJs who are beat mixing - for audiophile standard listening you would want the music to play at the pitch that the recording was made at IMHO

should get fixed though .... and i reckon definitely speak to Mahleu because he is the go to guy for turntables in Durban

I would just like the unit as far as possible to be completely functional. I suppose similarly how decks with auto-return is  more a feature than a necessity, its nice to have the functionality regardless.

Sounds like you can fix it yourself. Try contact cleaner in the pitch adjust pot.

Tried the basics; cleaning pots and switches etc. The electronics definitely need a health check up, and my knowledge doesn't stretch that far.
