Docking station
« on: March 02, 2017, 09:50:05 PM »
I have a usb dac that I wish to couple to my smartphone. Of course, the phone's usb port is also its charging port. The solution is to get an OTG power cable so that I can charge my phone and listen to music at the same time.

However, I'd like a docking station that I can slot my phone in, couple it to the usb dac and also charge the phone. Before I spend money on the wrong thing, I'd just like to know if such a thing exists? I've looked online at various docking stations but I find there's insufficient information to answer my question.

Insights, anyone?

I would think you would require a Data/Power split USB cable, or an OTG USB cable with external power...
And then you could use any phone dock.

Here are some local listing of mentioned cabled:
USB OTG cable with external Micro-USB power connector To USB 2.0 Female OTG Host Cable Adapter (Connect USB FlashDrive or Disk to Smartphone)
PowerUp Micro USB to USB 2.0 Male & USB 2.0 Female Host OTG Converter Adapter Cable - Black

Why stand on a silent platform?
