Nothing as impressive, Billy Bragg at Reading Festival 25th August 1990.  Bootleg bought 15 minutes after he’d left the stage from the boot king at the back of the festival site.  Interesting (and terrifying and sad) that the songs fit so well with the current geopolitics and rise of neo-Fascism in the US, UK and parts of Europe.

Pulled out the box of tapes from the cupboard again as I was cleaning the shelves and thought I’d actually sort them into some kind of order.  So first up is one of my ‘taped from the radio circa Jan/Feb/Mar 2000 then compiled on a tape to tape deck of highlights from John Peel’s shows.  This one features sessions from Elastica, Samurai 7 and Laika along with some personal favourites from Clinic, Ken Nordine, Remote Viewer and a bizarre public service announcement not to insert tapes in parts of the body from Mr Dibs.

Next up the wonderfully named ‘Disco Daze’ a 1982 compilation which came free with ‘Disco Nites’ in Boots the Chemists.  A gift from visiting relatives when I was a kid with more interest in early hip-hop than guitar based pop of the time (includes Donna Summer, Afrika Bambaata, Sugarhill Gang, Funkadelic and more classics!)

Busy rebuilding this homemade bandsaw I purchased and put away in the corner of the garage some months back..

So what better than some good old Beethoven recorded in 81 and given to me from a since long passed on friend, first time I heard that telltale turntable needle noise at the start in a very very long time.. :)
