If that is so watch the classifieds as I will be putting the Asus Xonar DSX up for sale....

And shopping for a Sound Card with Coax out at 192/24

Chris, any reason that you don’t consider an external DAC instead of the route you are going?

Generally an external DAC is going to do a better job compared to a soundcard. Usb A-B from the pic to the DAC, analogue our from the DAC to your amp. Minimal in-between components and therefore better sound!

There have been some really good examples at great prices here on the forum!

Well yes, but the external DAC of the NAD is converting the soundcard created digital signal.

There are no guarantees I guess.
I would choose good usb over optical toslink most times.  Proper co ax vs usb is less simple   And
Could go either
Way depending
On
A bazillion permutations of combinations and implementations

I just prefer to take the Coax signal from my PC to the DAC.

So the Asus Xonar DSX is in the classifieds already...

My pc is quite old so it does not have an optical output on board.

It had Coax out but it stopped working for no reason about six months ago.

If I am going to “fix” it I want to go with a Sound Card that does both Optical and Coax.

Then the way you are proposing is the best way to do it. Good luck with your search.

 Socket  8

Has this, maybe it can be used ?

S/PDIF Out header  Connects to the graphics card with HDMI support.

At the back top corner

Layout much like in this thread

The top right corner has a SPDIF out header.

From what I can see elsewhere it uses pin 1 and 4
