I was sweet and innocent in the way of cans until those who shall remain nameless left me no choice but to investigate :D

Craig have you by any chance heard the Hifiman HE560?  To my ears a lovely blend of the best aspects of HD800 and LCD2/3 performance. Quite possibly the most versatile cans with regards to different genres I've heard.

i have, and preferred the LCD's that said i have a new set of 560's hopefully getting here sometime in the not too distant future.
the problem might be that i never gave them enough time, the LCD's were love at first listen.

That LCD-2's of Craig sounded amazing the other day. My wife, a pianist and professional musicologist immediately recognised the extra detail. Something like she could hear the attack of the player on the keys, etcetera, and that was missing on the X2..

I know of 3 other pairs of headphones that significantly changed in how they sound, for the better, in a short time, so those guys on the web saying its a foefie has just no clue or experience. Kemosabe said his HE400i's also changed and the manual actually stated something like a 100 hours of playing!
