so who are they? the artists that you have been consistently coming back to. the ones that still sound as fresh 20, 30, 40 years later, as when you first heard them...
so who has rocked your world?
Artists from the pre 1990 era that I often listen to on my hi-fi (alphabetical):
Billy Joel
Bruce Springsteen
Dire Straits
Eagles *
Fleetwood Mac
John Mellencamp
Paul Simon *
Pink Floyd & Roger Waters
Queen *
Suzanne Vega
The Beatles *
The Traveling Wilburys
Tom Petty

* These probably laid my musical foundations.

I omitted the great Mr. Leonard Cohen from my previous list. It was probably him, more than any other artist, that introduced me to the lyrical & poetic narrative of music. His "Songs From The Road" BD is one of the discs that I most frequently watch/listen to. Timeless.

Although Nurse With Wound are not one of my all time favourite artists, a few of their records are extremely good.  The reason I'm adding them here is the legendary NWW list that came with their debut album (Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella).  I only starting listening to them years after the album came out (probably 1st year in Uni), but the list featured bands that I already loved and many who I had never heard of.  I have tracked down many that are on there (particularly the German/Mainland Europe ones) and still stumble across the occasional oddity that is on the list, so I guess, it has in a way been an influence.
