Tipping over an LCD / LED

I read somewhere that this helps uniformity as the liquid in the LCD  settles flat, due to gravity.

Other places say don't do it, but their reasoning is a highly stressed glass panel that cracks easily.

Anyone heard anything about lying an LCD flat for uniformity?
