Which is an AwEsOmE price

Colour me impressed.. Sure, no fingerprint reader or wireless charging..  But has Quick Charge 3.0, 3000 mAh battery, 3GB RAM, hexa-core Qualcomm MSM 8956 /Snapdragon 650, 128GB onboard storage, 802.11AC WiFi, LTE freq supported MTN LTE....
And since its OS is android, you know the custom ROMS are gonna be l33t!!!

It supports Dual-SIM + 1xmicroSD, and hope it supports 1xSIM+Dual-microSD.. that way I can use my 2x 200GB microSD cards, plus my primary number as it's SIM, and then use my flagship phone as a pure phone with my secondary number..
But if not, with my 50GB per month MTN data package and the GranBeat supporting MQA, I'll use Tidal and the single microSD card for what Tidal doesn't have.

I'm already on the look-out for an ulra-thin power-bank that I can stick at the bottom.

I can finally listen to awesome quality music, and also make & take calls inbetween...  Just need an app to allow me to listen in on the phone's mic, and I'll never take my IEM's off :D

BTW: My DP-X1A arrived yesterday.. and WOW!!! I am truly amazed... Feels like my Shure SE846's have finally found something portable to excel with.

It arrived yesterday...

From my Head-Fi post yesterday:
Okay...
Played with it for a few minutes.. still busy with the backup restores, etc.

Firstly things first; best audio smartphone I've listened to!!!!
My past phones where the HTC M8, HTC M9, HTC 10.. and recently have been trying out the Galaxy S7 Edge (exynos) - I had planned to move to the dual-SIM version of the S7 Edge as the HTC 10 doesn't come in a dual-SIM version.. As for the HTC Ultra.. bla.. bla. bla.. **** that ****.

Listen only via the 3.5mm jack, not balanced as yet.
Tested quick on my bro's HD6XX, and there's ample volume...
My SRH1540 loves them too.. and my SE846's sound great, even with the really cheap UE cable with inline MIC.
Played a few DSF/DSD tracks (bits from the Genesis - Invisible Touch album), some Hi-Res FLAC (bit of Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Tool)
And I think I have a keeper!

As for the phone itself.. It's pretty solid, but coming from a S7 Edge and HTC 10 (which I feel was faster then the S7 Edge) it does seem a bit slow.  Not crippling slow, but slower than what I'm used to; not a train smash at all.
Slapped on the Arrow Launcher that I got used to on the S7 Edge, and accessibility, etc. is smooth.

Feels a bit odd in hands, as my past smartphones where curved underneath, but it's not very large or too thick to use as a primary phone (for me)

Have to get the screen protector, case, and that really cool VanNuys pouch for it.
Is there anyone friend in Japan that I can ship them all to, and they send as one large shipment to my japanese drop-shipping address?

Been listening to it for a bit now.
And really love the sound.

Not EPIC like my Audio-GD NOS11, but DAMN!!! Best sounding phone I've ever owned!
Balanced mode is amazing; can drive an HD650/HD6xx without issue.  Had my bro these it out with his HD6XX and my custom balanced cable, and he was super impressed. -- He has an LG G5, so this was like another level.

My listening was done on my SHR1540, running a custom balanced cable, with the phone set on ACG mode.
These headies are my office pair, and though a bit V-Shaped, with bass & sub bass a few notches above neutral, they are more than pretty decent in terms of detail and clarity.

I'll try them out on the HD800S & LCD-4 over the weekend.

The sound is very well defined; detailed and clear, with a noise floor that I'm unable to determine if exists.
Highs are crisp and slightly bright, but no real harshness.
Mids are clear, and detailed..  Vocals very present and focused..
Bass is tight and fast, with ample sub-bass.  No muddiness experienced, nor does it impede Mids/Vocals.
Instrument separation is great, and it has a good sound stage, though it did seem a bit forward.

Music listened to:

Lake Street Dive - Fun House (FLAC)
 Genesis - Abacab (DSD)
Buckethead - Captain Eo's Voyage (FLAC)
Bryan Ferry - Slave to Love (FLAC)
 Godsmack - Godsmack (FLAC)
Gomez - Bring It On (FLAC)

Music App: Neutron Music Player

::Update::
Feedback on the phone so far - Loving it!

Downside so far:
  • Only 1x microSD slot - coming from a DP-X1A, I kinda miss the extra storage for wider variety in my random play.  Tho, I am enjoying a lot more Tidal streaming now.
  • Lack of big variety of cases and covers - Past phone was a S7 Edge, and before that the amazing, but single SIM HTC 10... both had a lot of cases and covers to choose from, especially the S7 Edge.  However, neither of them sound anywhere close to as awesome as the GranBeat... Think I should look into 3D printing some cases
  • Missing sensors & features: NFC, Finger-Print reader, and wireless charging... can't do much about the missing sensors, but am eager to try some 1A (not sure if I can get larger amp ones) QI receiver pads for charging once I finally get my case from Amazon.jp via. my dropshipper

Upsides so far:
  • Great signal for LTE.. used the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot earlier today and enjoyed some very fast speeds
  • Solid battery life.. I usually plug it into a charge cable at the office, even whilst listening to it.. however, I am realistic, so I am impressed that I can listen to music at high volumes without the battery totally draining on me
  • Sounds great and works awesomely with other music apps/players: Neutron is my preferred music app (stock one doesn't play WMA) and like the DP-X1A, the volume dial & media buttons work well with it, as well as Tidal, Dezer, HibyMusic, Poweramp
  • SMS/Calls on dual SIM work without any issues; important to me
  • Call talk quality is great, both on normal GSM/voice calls, as well as WhatsApp calls, Skype calls, and Skype for Business calls
  • As mentioned previously, allows for the 3.5mm jack to be used with inline mic for calls, and balanced 2.5mm for audio, but only in ACG mode. Allows for building a strange type of cable to take and make calls, whilst using more demanding headies like my SHR1540's at LOUD volume.. and perhaps a Z1R is on the cards at next Black Friday because of this
  • Real world benefits to me: Have my SE846 with inline mic cable plugged in for making and taking calls (Dual SIM line 1 or 2, or WhatsApp, or Skype for Business that we use at client sites), whilst listening to music running on Neutron Music Player, and using my LG SmartWatch R as the music controller.. whilst I do work, go for a smoke, on the train,... anywhere really

Sound on the HD800S's:
The Greabeat sounds surprisingly like the DP-X1A..
Recently sold mine, so can't do an A/B test, but from memory on the HD800S's, they sound alike, or so similar I can't differentiate...

As with the DP-X1A, A.C.G sounds great, but lacks the power to drive the HD800S's for me (I like to listen at high volume levels).. Balanced mode gives me the perfect volume.

I'll listen on the LCD-4 tomorrow and post feedback..
