100mm Bass Reflex Port / PVC Pipe??
« on: January 23, 2017, 05:02:17 PM »
Can anyone point me to a source for large Bass Reflex ports? I need approx 100mm inside dia.. otherwise does 100mm PVC pipe exist in SA? I will go to 110mm sewer pipe otherwise  Length needs to be approx 15cm (still tuning)  :groovy:

Plastic world has a variety of unusual sizes of perspex (also with differing wall thickness), however it's pretty expensive, so your best bet is to go there and try and find off-cuts.

Garden / irrigation places also have quite a variety of options in varying thicknesses... e.g. in CT, Aandrag, not sure if that is still their name.

afroaudio, did you find some pipe? Pop in yesterday at builders warehouse to see what stuff they go in stock, and they have pipe on 2 meters length.

I have some 110mm pipe that I can cut a piece of for you if you in cape town side.

Self busy with a sub build this side and found that my sweet spot on the tuning is just over 15cm with the 110mm pipe. Running a 12inch sub. What size are you running?

I eventually used some partsconnexion ports I had that were just over 100mm inside dia at front and tapered to just under 100mm inside dia at rear. they are flared at front and look neat! The 110mm waste pipe is just a little too wide and would be harder to make look good for my cabs I think.

I must say we do not have a lot of options here for this type of thing.. pqsound stock a limited range of ports and other hardware and are always out of stock of what I need. Zakspeed are useless... we need our own partsconnexion/hi-fi collective!
