I experimented with various amp / dac combinations finding a setup I enjoyed and am now left with a Chord Mojo and Modi Multibit as DACs. Since I'm now building out my Hifi setup, and 100% of my music comes from Tidal Hifi, my thought was to consolidate both setups by selling the Mojo and Modi and using the cash to upgrade the DAC to a single unit that's superior to both, which will alternately feed my preamp or my headphone amp.
I am looking for suggestions on possible worthwhile upgrades. My sound signature preference errs more towards the Mojo - while the Modi's detail retrieval is phenomenal, the Mojo's sound is a touch warm, a little more bloom on the bass, which I like.
I came across the Rega DAC-R which seemed like a winner, but then read WhatHifi's review saying the USB input is garbage - which is exactly how I'd be using it.
Any other recommendations?
