Best Speaker cable in the world
« on: January 17, 2017, 11:21:45 PM »
I will qualify what I say.

Compared to Everest, Transparent Reference XL, Kimber 3038, Shunyata Anaconda eTron. These I have heard and still own two of them.

Kimber 6xxx ? MIT Oracle ? Way too expensive to guess. Valhalla and Odin ? Cant say.

Look at its construction. takes me 30 minutes to strip one end...  :Ooooooh:

3.5m of 20+ mm snake... weighs way over 6kg  :nutter:

I like the red look but there is more to it:

HULLIFLEX ® JacketThe SUPER NOVA’s transparent ruby red outer jacket is made of our rugged and hard-wearing HULLIFLEX ® EHD, a plasticizer and PVC free insulation material. This jacket provides excellent protection against mechanical influences and environmental chemical agents. The result is a very stable sound quality and a long lifespan.

How to cut it ? Only way ESCOM does it, hacksaw...

Aha here is why its so damn heavy

And the stripshow begins.... remove the outer layer...

Yes correct, .8mm solid copper band wrapped around a very densely braided SILVER coated copper shield.

Lover shields Mr Sulu....a CANDY bar  ;)  wrapped in cotton... amazing

What is the White stuff ? Not silk but some VERY fine and dense : I rather quote:

"Embedded between The SUPER NOVA’s conductors, special treated artificial filler fibres provide a perfect protection against moisture penetration. In applications where high humidities are present or can occur (e.g. tropical environments and car installations), moisture penetration normally can reduce cable lifespan as well as induce signal losses."

Lets get to the core:

What do we have here ?

Super-Copper-Silver Hybrid ConductorsThe SUPER NOVA’s four signal conductors are made of highest grade ultra-pure Matched Crystal Oxygen Free Copper strands, which are manufactured by means of a special extrusion process. In the same mechanical step a very pure protective solid silver layer is applied. In sharp contrast with the commonly used drawn copper covered with electroplated silver, this meticulous and advanced production process ensures maximum crystalline density and contact (conductance) without open pathways for corrosive impurities to enter. The same goes for the co-extruded protective solid silver layer, which, unlike electroplated silver, doesn’t contain any chemical residues; Avoiding the presence of impurities and blocking their gradual creeping in over time is the best defence against sound quality degradation. In addition, serving as an additional protection layer and further improving the signal transmission properties, each conductor is embedded in a conductive layer containing our renowned Linear Structured Carbon ®.

More to go:

418 strands of silver coated copper.

clockwise 12 groups

centre...well the rest  ;)

Now to solder ALL of this into connectors.... more to follow later

In.my limited experience, a cable with a mix of thin strands surrounding a couple thicker strands sounds best.
The real high-end seem to only be really fine strands.

That NOVA sure looks like a lot of cable though.

The feedback I get is amazing.

This will be one at the cable shootout. A persons has to be deaf, blind and dumb to not hear the difference. I now actually bought a set for myself.....  :be:

Had a question about price ?

About R45000 for pair of 3.5m Bi-Wire cables. 2-4 configuration or 4-4.

It uses about 1/8th of a roll of silver solder!  :nutter: 13mm entry connectors....

I agree with Francois. There are one or two cables that sound better, but at a price (at least a quarter of a million rand for a 8 ft set !). Once you've found the synergy, they sound magic. Will never sell my pair.
