Apparently they will do another drop if the requests hit 100k, I am also very much interested in getting myself the hd6xx when it drops again.

Overheard at Sennheiser HQ one night ...

"So what shall we do with that batch of underlength cables that arrived? I know! Let's ride they hype wave and push them to our Massdroppers!"

Nice gesture though.

TBH, I sense more of a shipping delay coming up. Sweeteners are needed to pacify impatient audiophiles.

Apparently the issue is some cussies got 4ft cables instead of the (still too short) 6ft ones. Guess they had many complaints about the short leads.  Missing an opportunity to make good and net send at least 2m.

Yeah, appears to be the case, looks like they've already shipped the order.

BTW, Massdrop has another HD6xx drop at the same $199. But, only for the next 10 days.

Really tempted... However, with the HD660's now announced, the HD6XX carries (at least for me) the guarantee of buyer's remorse.

I've decided to pinch my pennies and shift focus toward the next pricing tier.

Get DT880 and donít look back.  I have HD600 and prefer the DT880. A friend tried DT880 bought a pair and more or less retired his HD650.

I have quite a few headphones but it is the 880 I get drawn to most.

My Sanskrit 6th Anniversary Edition has a weird foible: it distorts at high Windows and WASAPI volume meaning I'm not maximising bit depth.  My preferance with DACs has always been to peak the source and then adjust  to taste on the amplifier and given that my inferior sounding 793II dac has no such issue, it's annoying. Long story short, I need something like an NFB 11 or one of those Matrix Quattro II's.

As for headphones, I'm basically infatuated with the DT1990's. They're gorgeous, and the sound signature seems right up my alley.

To be honest, I don't know why I don't own these yet. They'd cost less all in than my Monoliths did and would probably serve me well in studio. I already own the other two and probably should just get them.

For interest sake, which DT880 should I get? FYI, I am able to drive the 600 Ohm version.
