The magic of the HD650 is how it continues to scale with better equipment so it's already a high value product. I have a feeling the Fidelio X2 doesn't quite scale to the same level, but I quite enjoyed the L1 I owned, but the HD600 far outclasses it.

I tried ordering them but South Africa wasn't on the list of countries that they ship to. Has it always been that?

Maybe Scott on the forum can import them for you, apparent they won't ship directly to Sa anymore.

Try a freight forwarding service if you want to import.

I still have my Sennheiser HD 485 which I listen to everyday.
The Fidelio X2 gets awesome reviews.
Any idea where these are available in Johannesburg to try?
The HD 485 are probably too old for anyone to remember, but would be interested if anyone has a comment on these compared to the X2. I enjoy flat, neutral sound, and certainly not something overly bass heavy.
I've been spoiled with a Linn Sondek and Magneplanar III speakers and that's why I'm accustomed to open, neutral sound.
Thanks

X2's bottom is more mature Shakira than young Britney Spears ... voluptuous and appealing to some but not too tigh, certainly not lean ...

Based on what I heard with the L1 and then the X2 being even more bass heavy than the former, I'd suggest looking at the HD600. The L1 was very much a Hi-fi tuned can, not really neutral at all.

Wait a sec, how does one ship to South Africa through Massdrop?

Thought SA was removed from their supported countries due to our absolutely shite postal - at least that's the answer Massdrop gave me when I emailed them earlier in the year. Is there a way of getting around it, or how are you guys getting massdrop items into SA?

Massdrop are now in partnership with a freight forwarder so worldwide delivery is possible again.
But im sure you will pay for this kind of service.

Wait South Africa still not listed but this will change according to Mass drop

The X2 is not bass heavy, it follows the general  Harmon curve pretty close in the bass and mids

Thanks! So one would then have to contact them directly before placing the order? Has Massdrop said when they plan to reinstate SA on the shipping list?

Mass drop advised they will revert with details for South Africa.
You will be able to select South Africa from the drop down menu.

I used my AramexGlobalShopper (drop-shipping service) US address for my pair... taking a bit of time to get to me, but that's cause of the Christmas rush...

Also, the drop has ended, so you would have to wait until (if) they do another for the HD6XX
