Yesterday me and Neelan gave the speaker system in studio one (Focusrite room) a check-up as we needed to get the main monitors going. During testing we found that the woofers on the right main monitor were dead, or so we thought*. So as per normal practice at the studio donor woofers are taken from the Infra-Sonic system, located at the rear of the control room.
Off came the diffusor grills to expose these huge monsters! Capable of reproducing 9 Hz they are truly a sight to see in the flesh. 8 fifteen inch TAD woofers! Four per box.
What I admire about these speakers is the way they are constructed. No exotic methods, no exotic materials (all ply-wood construction). Plain and simple yet capable of an extraordinary performance!
Note in the pictures the termination block and welding cable!
* Turned out that some fool disconnected the low-pass filter of the right speaker system.
