Does anybody have experience with this raspberry DAC:

My colleague in germania is raving about it, I am looking at bringing one in but it will be well in excess of a grand with all taxes etc.

Advanced revision of version 2, this version includes a lot of new options:
? Easy assembly (no soldering required).
? Low noise regulation with heatsink
? Integrated on-off-reboot Management
? Connector dedicated to a screen connection (direct Pin HD44780)
? Connector dedicated pushbutton (momentary)
? Jack DC-5.5 / 2.1 on the PCB
? Optimization of the converter and circuit integration.

New version of I-TCXO Sabre, its architecture is designed to allow you to have all the outputs on the same side as the Raspberry Pi is coupled with DAC.
Connectors have been added to make the integration of the various components of a DIY build as simple as possible.

V3.0 is now equipped with advanced power management (type ATX) to switch off the device via software solution.
These functions are handled by a PIC and allow different blackout mode as needed (software or hardware).

This converter now have new features is ideal for turning Raspberry Pi 2.0, A + or B + high definition file reader.
Equipped with the famous ES9023 SABRE, a revised scheme, and OS-CON capacitors that DAC will offer a musical, its dynamic and rich in micro detail.

For the many software solutions for audio playback on this platform, it allows a simpler implementation than ever for an incomparable result in this price range.

Comes with 4 nuts, 4 screws and 4 M2.5 spacers for fixing it on the PI B +, A + or 2.0 (HAT Format)

The LED display and button are sold separately.

Details on the operation of the power management:

power cycle process:

Push the button
The DAC turns on the PI, the LED flashes pending the signal "BOOT OK" from the PI (GPIO 22)
This signal appears as there is a script that changes the state of the spindle when the pI started.
Once the received signal, the LED stays on, and the system is in stable condition.

Power-off with the button:

Push the button.
The microcontroller detects the extinction order
It sends a "Shutdown" signal on GPIO 17 to start the shutdown script
Once off the PI, the button switches off and waits for next press.

Volumio from extinction:

Click on "Power Off"
The Pi sending a "Shutdown" signal on GPIO 4 to begin the shutdown script
Once off the PI, the button switches off and waits for a new spark.

Reboot since Volumio:

Click on "Reboot"
The Pi sending a "Reboot" signal on GPIO 4 to begin the restart script
After restarting the PI, the Boot returns OK button and the led is fixed.
