...since yesterday the 1th of october ..13 Hof in Cape Town is again a very vibrant, musical place for all music lovers who re having a slightly different taste or approach to music.... or Music, HiFi & Art as well.

I just spend a couple of weeks in Germany to charge my batteries again, spend time with my daughter there...to speak german and drink german beer in the deepest green forest of Bavaria. I feel good and ready for you guys ;)

For those who might have forgotten who we are and what we do.... 13 Hof brings in Audiomat (France), Avantgarde Acoustic (Germany) , Audio Analogue (Italy), Brinkmann (Germany), Charisma Cartridges (Canada), Eden Acoustics (Canada), Gryphon Audio (Denmark), Hana Cartridges (Japan), Martion Horns (Germany), NuPrime (USA/Taiwan), rega (UK),
Tannoy (Scotland), Transfiguration Cartridges (Japan), Unison Research (Italy) & Well Tempered

Some might think ...oh no ..not in my budget but I promise in STEREO I can surprise most of you with stunning products in the perfect combination or set up at prices you wont believe.

Some might think...on appointment only - how can I escape? YOU won't and if if you dont like what you see or hear or who you deal with...let your coffee getting cold and leave    but I m sure you won't...

So 13 Hof in Cape Town is ready for you.....

EARLY BIRDs..some of you might ve heard that this is a very attractive program to get a limited amount of brand new products at a lower price - against a open and honest review which you shall share with all of us.

The new EARLY BIRD will be about and around rega...their new turntables are almost on checked in to their flight to Cape Town and we glady awaiting the arrival of the new P2 and P3 Turntables. If you re interested in becoming one of 10 Early Birds for this or the other TT model...better to contact me now.

Some familiar and unfamiliar names here, but all sound exciting. I had to look up the Martion brand and was surprised to see his products are steeped in German club culture and endorsed by many EDM DJs. Fascinating.

Also, is 13hof still doing Odeon?

........of course I simply forgot to list Odeon.....

Heiner (Martion) has quite a number of prominent and very prominent clients.... musicians (some very famous, glamorous Rock Stars which dont want to be named) and definitiv the Creme de la Creme of the  international DJ Scene plus a number of very good Recording Studios. Heiners speakers are so refreshing uncommercial but - not cheap at all - they re not really beautiful in the eyes of Sonus Faber Owners ;) but the bulky ugly Bullfrog can give any Tower of the Power Speaker a big freight. In fact some of these ..so call them Reference Speakers sound only pale next to a Bullfrog. Gryphon Diablo 300 or bigger is the perfect match to a Bullfrog. The other models re active....

Its a different kind of speaker for less than a handful here..... and check it out.... you will not find any 2nd Hand....maybe an old EXODUS..but they re maybe 20-35 years old. Heiner was the first in Germany who "did Horns" in the 70ies and even Alfred Rudolf (Acapella) started his career based on what or Heiner did...

Wonderful read, although I'd never be in the market it's nice to know that he'll come out to make sure of the best sound

....great article..... didnt knew about it. Heiner is a great character and we know each other from long...
I still have my Orgons in Germany and an actual pair of Bullfrogs there.... forget about what you think Dynamic is about... once you hear a Bullfrog... you will know better.

But who might think these speakers are made for Hooligans....  nope.... they can handle any kind of music in such a different way .. but hey.... they will be set up in a couple of days.... Bullfrogs and Einhorn....

...and ahh the coffee is good, the conversation is good @ 13 Hof - and then of course there's the listening.... Avantegarde is impressive, HUGE and intimidating, but the magic was discovered in the Odeon's ... spacious, depth, detail and oh so musical....they simply disappeared in an image of sound!

So after all that, its easy to walk away with a little Rega Apollo R and having listened to it a little last night, I went and googled some reviews - not as confirmation, but to somehow find the words to describe what I was hearing...  Tone Audio's review captures it for me  http://www.tonepublications.com/review/redefining-possibilities/

Thanks Achim - I'll be back

Having heard the Odeon Fidelio's  http://www.odeon-audio.com/modelle/fidelio/ ...... but with neither the budget, nor the space for it...I was wondering whether there's any Orfeo's on offer (special that is....)

....no no... you have heard the Midas ..not Fidelio......... my last Fidelio got sold a while ago. Orfeo, Fidelio and Midas are great value for the money and fantastic "musicians".

Pity. Responded within a couple days but clearly too late. So much for that idea
