Thanks JonnyP

Good to know. I am probably most excited to hear the Focals and the Tannoys. Really wish I could audition the Avons. Anyone know of someone in CT with Avon 4 or 5's????

I will post impressions of the different combos as I get to hear them.

Arthur

I took my new Predator along to Fourways Pearls,..hooked it up onto Martin Logan Theos...
Compares easily against serious names.
Now I want Theos.
and..
How much better is BW mono's than Predator..Anyone please?
Also considering Nad M51 as digital pre/dac. (has HDMI inputs as well which is NB for me)
Thx

Please more info about new Black Widow.

Hi Jaco,

Guys talking about the new Black Widow PRE here. The BW Power  / Monos you enquired about some monhs ago is out of production by end of the year.

The new BW Power replacing the current model shall be available around January 2017. It shall be a visual match to the current model but has "some" upgrades regarding operating points of input and driver stages, as well as a revised power supply. Available soon in both SE and BAL input, switchable. Power delivery stays at 300 per channel into 8. Transformer size up to 1.2KVA and a complement of 4 valves per stereo unit.

BW Mono also gets the 1.2KVA  transformer but has a valve complement of 3 only and output power at 800 per Mono stays as is.
Appearance stays "bland" with NO curvy bits. All front panels in future shall only bear the Valve Audio name. Model designation shall be on the rear panels only going forward.

Of course new year sees all prices being elevated once more by all the rising input costs from the engineering guys and all the other bits and pieces as imported as well. Been taking the loss for this for too long now. If VA is to carry on surviving this is the only way I am afraid.

I so want to have it finished and rolling out this year, but pressure here is daunting. Year end always the issue as suppliers for panels/chassis/pcb's are running at their limits to deliver orders to everyone.

So dunno / hopefully  :nutter: :nfi:

Not putting pressure Oom Schalk, I have a few years left in me to hear one.  Whenever you are ready.

Any due updates on the WHISPER range?

I am contemplating the possibiity of moving away from the multi module Whisper design to a single pcb, one "box" design in the near future. Cost implications and manufacturing time the clincher here. It takes forever to build a Whisper.

Thoughts on this anyone?

Oom Schalk

I would personally love it if you could incorporate a phono stage into the Exclame (in the works AFAIK) which would presumably require a single PCB? Then a 'Whisper Lite' as a separate phono stage for either older Exclames or Predators would certainly make sense.

What about a donut or triangular shaped PCB?
