Hi Handsome; yes, the first triode carries both triodes' anode current. I'm measuring current across the R4 and R6, balancing that figure to be the same on both. Which jumper position do you use? I use J4 for more bias voltage across R2. But it seems Broskie recommends J5 position too:

"Well, more is what I got when I undid the capacitor resistor bypass and used jumper J5 instead. It was an amazing transformation. The sound stage went wide and deep—but the gain went down, an easy price to pay." from http://www.tubecad.com/2009/03/blog0161.htm

I think the 33k resistor choice gave about 4V across the cathode resistor. I'll check the 27k option, I think this might be on target at 3V.

I checked out the 27k option, but bias voltage only came to 1.7V. So back to the 22k version. I would rather run the higher current option. The original schematic posted at the start of the thread specifies a 1V bias. I'm going to run with that and close up. Thanks for the help, handsome et al.

I used to have 6n1p at first stage in my phono ... its an excellent tube, and in every way better than the more common 6dj8 ... well in my opinion ... smiley! ... 6n1p seems to be very lively and well balanced.
