Custom tube amplifier build!
« on: July 14, 2016, 12:44:22 AM »
Just handed over these today after a few months of building.

They used to be a pair of shoddy constructed kits from the 1960s. Mismatch circuits and components. Zero safety devices. Now they are even mirror matched.

Very nice work Dewald. Specs? Origin?

Perhaps 'nice work' is a misnomer as it must have taken quite a bit of elbow grease to get them in a working and presentable state.

How many watt per channel? How much the costs? Are they for sale?

They are nominal 10 watts per amplifier. EL84 push-pull self-bias. Cost would be around R25k for a set built like this. They are not for sale sorry.

Minimal components, yet the amps would produce great sound! Point to point wiring is not always the easiest way to do things but it seems the good old tagboards that were so popular in days gone by are now simply unobtainanium!
