Don't know if anyone else has been following this one. A Hollywood actress (failing as I had never heard of her) who went to Fettes College in Edinburgh and comes from a very wealthy background recently put out a book about her gap year in Zambia.
Trouble is, virtually all the stuff in the book seems to have taken place in 1899 not 1999, and is possibly the worst example of deluded 'White Saviour' mentality/syndrome ever written. The result has been that she has offended the entire nation of Zambia, who have taken (along with others) to twitter to pick apart her claims in ever more amusing ways.
Have a read (there are book excerpts included which are florid, incorrect and just plain dumb in places). And check out Little Zimba at the same time.
